Victor Hsiang, CISO, GATX

Victor Hsiang is an accomplished Information Security, Risk and IT Professional with over 19 years of experience working within the Financial Services and Healthcare sectors. He has an established track record of delivering successful IT and Information Security solutions that manages risk while supporting business requirements. His experience includes implementation of technology, security audits, risk assessments, information records management, privacy concerns, compliance and legal issues related to security, forensics, security practices and policy development. He currently leads the Information Security program at GATX Corporation.

Tom Hance, VP of Operations, NeuVector

Tom has over 20 years of experience building innovative, industry-leading technology companies and has held executive positions at notable companies including Dome9, Sophos, Fortinet, NetScreen, and Juniper. Prior to NeuVector, Tom served as vice president of sales and field operations at Cavirin, and previously founded and served as the CEO of GovAssure, a federally focused network security systems integration company.

Ricardo Lafosse, CISO, Morningstar

Ricardo Lafosse is the Chief Information Security Officer at Morningstar, Inc. Previously, he was the CISO for Cook County under the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, providing strategic information security leadership for the second largest County in the United States. In his role, Lafosse is responsible for the implementation and governance of the County’s information security program, including IT-compliance and risk activities.

 

Lafosse has been the catalyst for establishing a county-wide IT risk management vision and strategy for Cook County, including development of a County-wide comprehensive IT security risk program. He proactively works with business units to implement practices and procedures that meet County information security standards and policies and advises County executives on the most effective use of information security and risk management strategies to improve the cybersecurity posture of the County.

Carlos Pero, AVP, Head of Cyber Application Security, Zurich Insurance

Carlos’ professional career has been entirely focused on the Web, starting in 1994 with Argonne National Laboratory and discovering NCSA Mosaic, and connecting things to the Internet such as their Advanced Photon Source electron accelerator before it was even possible to center text on a page. Other notable employers have been Chicago Tribune, PacifiCare Health Systems, Barbeques Galore, Cars.com, and Rand McNally, addressing the nascent topics of Web development, content management, online marketing, and e-commerce. After 20 years, Carlos joined Zurich Insurance and pivoted into Cybersecurity to protect Web sites instead of develop Web sites, because port 80 and 443 are the biggest vulnerabilities ever. He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an M.B.A. from Concordia University. After having co-located his own email, Web, and database servers for many years, Carlos still enjoys crafting code in Python and Google App Engine in his spare time.

Matt has over 18 years of software development, sales engineering management and consulting experience. During this time, Matt has helped some of the largest organizations in the world in a variety of industries, regions, and technical environments implement secure software development life cycles utilizing static analysis.

He has been in information security for over 15 years and in IT for over 20.
