Conference Program

8:00am – 9:00am: Registration and Continental Breakfast

9:00am – 10:00am: Business Driven Architecture: Leveraging the Cloud as Business Enabler

So you’ve got your cloud strategy more or less figured out. Now the question is how to get started? How to get your hands wrapped around the application portfolio and figure out which app is going to be the first one in the cloud? What should be the criteria? How do you approach the project? Where do you get started? Many enterprise architects are faced with a tough job of figuring out how to make their cloud strategy real. In this session we will discuss how to ground the strategy of going to the cloud to a pragmatic scenario.

10:00am – 10:30am: Refreshment Break

10:30am – 11:30am: Digitally Transform Your Customer Engagement Channels: Journey That Starts with Enterprise Architecture

Digital transformation is not limited to enabling new technologies; it modifies the way we run our business, reshapes the traditional boundaries between business and IT and changes the way we interact with our customers. Effective EA teams can play a key role in enabling organizations’ digital transformation by leveraging their holistic view of the ever‐changing business needs, new products and revenue models, the technology evolution of each interaction channel, and the organizational realignment for speed, agility and operational efficiency. This technology‐driven transformation is an ideal opportunity for EAs to increase their value to the organization and become an even more essential advisor to C‐level decision makers.

In this session, you will learn how to design an architecture that enables an integrated and consistent customer experience while monetizing foundational IT investments across channels. We will discuss some of the most common challenges and tradeoff decisions you should consider when designing an Omnichannel‐enabling architecture.

11:30am – 12:30pm: How to Restart and Mature an EA Practice

According to the Enterprise Architecture Book of Knowledge (EABOK), Enterprise Architecture “framework successfully combines people, data and technology to show a comprehensive view of the inter‐relationships within an information technology organization.” Thus, when you are inspired to restart and mature EA practice in your organization, EA framework becomes a key to success. Today, we will talk about practical steps that Enterprise Architects can take to create such framework to overcome various challenges – from a deficit of tools to the lack of understanding the values EA brings to the company. We will talk about the ways to cooperate with business and technology partners, and how to build trust in EA.

12:30pm – 1:30pm: Luncheon and Exhibit Break

1:30pm – 2:30pm: Become Indispensable: Strengthen Your Enterprise Architecture Practice by Producing Valuable Business Outcomes

Organizations have spent the past years focusing on efficiency, which meant when hit with a major disruption like COVID‐19, many business processes were too brittle to quickly adapt and simply broke.  During the rebuilding process, Gartner indicates that leaders must design an architecture that: enables better access to information; can augment that information with new insights; and is composable, modular, and can change and respond more quickly as decisions are made.  But how do you do that?  A good first step is to add a business architecture top layer to your enterprise architecture efforts.  Using this lens, you can connect IT to business objectives (ensuring your efforts are business‐outcome‐driven) and therefore easily changeable when business objectives evolve or change.

In this session you will learn how to:

  • Create a strategic roadmap where you can plan future business capabilities and other IT investments
  • Understand how emerging technology can be leveraged to support business objectives
  • Optimize your current IT portfolio for cost, lifecycle, and agility
  • Ensure transformation projects are aligned with strategic objectives
  • Implement business‐outcome‐driven enterprise architecture

2:30pm – 3:00pm Refreshment Break

3:00pm – 4:00pm: An Enterprise Architecture Innovation Framework

As Enterprise Architecture (EA) practices balance the mature domain of traditional IT governance, while embracing the dynamically changing worlds and ecosystems of digital innovation – new skills, missions, and methods – will further enable enterprise objectives of capturing emerging and driving mature markets growth. Today’s session showcases an adaptable framework construct for guiding innovation by EA teams and Partner organizations!

4:00pm – 5:00pm: Creating a Value Proposition for a Business‐Outcome‐Driven EA Program (Panel Discussion)

Many enterprises are either starting, restarting, refocusing, or rebuilding their EA program. But how do you ensure that your EA program is business driven? How do you successfully develop and sell a value proposition to their organization?

Panelists include:

  • Jarvis Ka, Enterprise Architect, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance
  • Other Enterprise Architecture Executives sharing strategies, tactics and lessons learned
